Mainline Disc Filters of the FMD Series

FMD filters are used for filtration of neutral liquid media from mechanical particles. Azud Helix automatic filtration systems represent a range of self-cleaning automatic filters with disc-type filter elements and capacities from 5 to 10,000 m³/h. The filtering element consists of a stack of special discs made of durable polymer materials. Diagonal grooves of a specific depth and width are formed on both surfaces of the discs, ensuring high filtration accuracy and fineness.

Automatic backwashing is performed by switching three-way valves, after which the water radically changes its flow direction and, through the outlet manifold, hydraulically opens the locking spring that compresses the discs, entering the disc cartridge. The water fills the released space, cleans the loosened discs, and then flows to the inlet manifold.

Once this filtration cycle is completed, the purified water is supplied to the main line.

The filtration rating of FMD filters, depending on the type of filter element used, ranges from 5 to 500 µm.

The standard scope of supply includes the following equipment:

• filters (from 1 to 20 units)
• piping, hydraulically actuated valves
• instrumentation set
• steel frame
• microprocessor-based control unit

Optional equipment:

Depending on specific operating conditions, filtration blocks can be supplied that include a backwash system fed from an independent water source.

Main operating conditions for FMD filters:

• feed water pressure — from 2.5 to 10.0 atm
• maximum operating temperature — 60°C

The technical data table lists the main characteristics of the base FMD models equipped with filter elements rated at 5 µm. Upon the Customer’s request, filter blocks with a capacity of up to 500 m³/h can be manufactured.
